The international symposium ANDERS GETEILT (SHARED DIFFERENTLY) is in search of new and unconventional means for the collective production and use of freespaces. The invited artists, designers, and architects present their strategies and projects for the appropriation and reinterpretation of existing situations. The material interventions and transformations are thus also understood as being operations in the political and social realm. In the process, reformulations and also enhancements take place. Strategies could involve the removal or rejection of predefined functions, the conscious integration of the everyday knowledge and experience of the inhabitants, or also the cunning subversion of regulations.
WUK Courtyard NEW
The symposium is organised by the Vienna University of Technology in cooperation with WUK. It is the kick-off event for the redesign of the WUK courtyard, which is being developed by architecture students and will be realised before the 2014 summer season. The aim is to animate the spatial and social potentials of the courtyard, one of the most attractive of its kind in the 9th district. The courtyard as public space should invite Viennese inhabitants and WUK users alike to spend time here without any obligation to consume.
