MIOB In Shorts Award 2026
The audience as the jury
Since its founding in 2017 by the Crossing Europe Film Festival in Linz (AT), Festival de Sevilla (ES), European Film Festival Palic (RS), Les Arcs European Film Festival (FR), Scanorama European Film Forum (LT), Trieste Film Festival (IT) and the Film Festival Cottbus (DE), the film festival network MIOB (Moving Images – Open Borders) has been organising events and initiatives for the promotion of European cinema in all its facets.
From 1 September to 15 October 2026, 12 short films nominated by MIOB festival members will be available online on the “This Is Short” platform, where audiences can watch and vote for their favourites after registering. Three types of subscriptions are offered: a free 14-day trial, a monthly subscription (€0.99), and an annual subscription (€9.99). The voting process is simple: there is a “vote” button available for each movie.
Each partner festival has selected two movies for the program of the MIOB in Shorts Award’s 1st official edition, bringing together distinctive voices from across Europe. All twelve films will also be presented at FilmFestival Cottbus (3-8 November 2026), where the MIOB In Shorts Award winner will be announced at the closing ceremony.
